August 24 Wolfslair Facility Orlando, Florida The scene opened up inside of the Wolfslair Orlando facility, the massive space filled with workout equipment and dominated by two large wrestling rings in the centre. It was dimly lit, the only light coming from the late evening sun filtering down through the skylights in the roof overhead. The sound of footsteps echoed in the area as the camera slowly turned to show Lachlan Kane strolling through, dressed in loose fitting black shorts and a black tank top. His hands were taped and there was a confident swagger in his walk as he stopped in front of the camera, which was set up next to a heavy punching bag that was suspended from the ceiling. His blue eyes focused on the camera lens as he brought his hands together to roll and stretch his wrists as he began to speak. “Well, I’m not standing here as the inaugural Eternal champion like I said I was going to. But…I was not the one pinned in that match. If it had been a simple one on one match, I can guarantee you that I would be standing here with that title on my shoulder.” He gave a look to his right shoulder for a brief moment, before lifting it in a nonchalant shrug. “But that’s not how the match went down, so there’s really no use in dwelling on it. All I can do now is focus on the future, and another title opportunity.” He smirked slightly, his boyish good looks tinted with slight arrogance. “Three matches, three title opportunities. Seems like Wolfslair has certainly got people’s attention, haven’t we? And it’s for a damn good reason. The entire organization is full of world-class athletes with championship achievements miles long. And come New Ground, KERBEROS and I are planning to add to that extensive list when we become the inaugural Parallel champions.” “And just who do we have set up in front of us to get to that point? We’ve got a couple bosom buddies, and a team of convenience. Wait, scratch that. Kyle Williams and Amelia Winston are a team formed out of fear. See, we saw that little clip on the last episode of Eternal, how you were so paranoid that you were gonna get jumped by Aiden or KERBEROS during the match. But did that happen?” Lachlan shook his head. “Nope. Because we don’t need to resort to cheap underhanded tactics to make our presence felt. If we want to take you out, we make sure you’ll see us coming, trust me.” A sly smirk appeared on his face. “But it’s good to know that we’ve inspired such camaraderie in the roster. Almost warms my heart. Not nearly as much as putting the four of you down at New Ground, however.” He paced the floor a few steps. “Tommy Gunn and Chase Andrews. The besties coming up in the company together. Sticking through thick and thin, hoping to realize their championship dreams. I mean, this is the kind of story Hollywood makes movies about, isn’t it? The plucky underdogs rising up and claiming gold. The only problem is that this story is not going to have the feel-good ending that they want. This is not the after-school special where you two overcome the odds and go riding off into the sunset with smiles and rainbows paving your way. No, this story is going to be full of pain, disappointment and most importantly, loss. As in, your loss to Wolfslair. Not everyone gets their fairytale Disney ending.” He gave a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders. “And then, we’re back to Williams and Winston. Hey there, kiddos.” He twisted his face into a sneer worthy of a Stanley Kubrick film. “Boo.” His face relaxed back into its disarmingly charming smile, though there was a slight hint of malice lurking in his bright blue eyes. “So, all that paranoia and fear that you were gonna get jumped from behind two weeks ago, and…what happened? Oh right - not a damn thing. All that wasted energy focusing on an enemy that wasn’t there. And now, you actually do have to fight two of us in this match. See, when I said if we wanted to take you out, you’ll see us coming? This is what I meant. We don’t need to jump you from behind to completely decimate and destroy you. We want you to see the fist coming at your face, and see the realization in your eyes that your defeat is inevitable. When we beat you, you won’t forget it for a good, long time. The image of KERBEROS and Lachlan Kane, standing over your broken and battered bodies, holding those championships in the air…that’s going to be an image engraved into your minds until the day you take your final breath. I guarantee it.” The smile dropped from his face, replaced with a look of fierce determination and pure aggression. “We told you all when we arrived that we came to make Wrestleverse our hunting grounds, and we’ve done exactly that. In the span of one month, we have become the number one most talked-about topic in this company. We have elevated this company from an unknown commodity to the hottest thing in the wrestling world, all by virtue of who we are and what we do. And what we do is eliminate anyone that stands in our way.” The smirk returned to his face, as he cracked his knuckles. “The Wolves are on the hunt, and we’re not just coming for gold…we’re coming for blood.” |
